The Oak Hill Cemetery was established in approximately 1861  by  Confederate General Cogfwell. After he left town the Ladies of the Cemetery Association of Oak Hill Cemetery maintained and looked after it until about 15 years ago when the City of Butler took full control over the cemetery.

The Oak Hill Cemetery consists of 50 acres of developed park land for grave or niche purchase and burials. An additional 20 acres awaits future development.

Notable Graves

Linnie Crouch
Died April 25, 1898. The tombstone is to be noted in the Ripley's Believe It Or Not book as the world's smallest tombstone.

Nancy F. Cogfwell
Believed to be 63, passed on June 16, 1860. She was the wife of the Confederate General James M. Cogfwell.
